Kochi: Mahatma Gandhi (MG) University has conferred an honorary doctorate on actor Mammootty. Chancellor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar presented the honorary doctorate to the star at a convocation ceremony held at the university assembly hall. Higher Education Minister Roji M John was present at the event.

MG University also conferred doctorates on nagaswaram maestro Thiruvizha Jayashankar and vascular surgeon Dr N Radhakrishnan in recognition of their outstanding contributions to their respective fields.

Mammootty and nagaswaram maestro Thiruvizha Jayashankar were awarded the Doctor of Letters (D Litt) degree, while Dr N Radhakrishnan was awarded the Doctor of Science (DSc) degree.
