Malappuram: Three students sustained stab injuries following a clash between students at PTM Higher Secondary School at Thazhekkode in Perinthalmanna here. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon after the SSLC examination, when students from the English and Malayalam medium sections confronted each other.
The injured students sustained wounds on their head and hands. Two of them were admitted to Manjeri Medical College Hospital, while the third was taken to Perinthalmanna District Hospital. Reports indicate that all three have suffered serious injuries.
Tensions had reportedly existed between students from the English and Malayalam medium sections prior to the incident. The conflict erupted when a student who had previously been suspended arrived at the school to appear for the examination.
After completing the exam, the suspended student allegedly attacked three others with a sharp weapon, inflicting injuries on them. Reports also suggest that the student had previously shown violent behaviour, leading to a police warning against him.
