IUML leaders meet

Malappuram: The discussions on candidates for the bypoll to the Lok Sabha seat in Malappuram, left vacant with the resignation of IUML leader K Kunhalikutty, are underway. Many names including Muslim League leader Ibrahim Sulaiman Sait’s son Siraj Ibrahim Sait are being considered along with MP Abdussamad Samadani, N Samsudheen and Manjalamkuzhi Ali.

Though the name of Samadani was raised in the earlier stage, more support is being shown towards Siraj now in view of the possibility of involvement in national politics.

Even after 10 years in IUML, Siraj was not give any parliamentary position. He now holds the national secretary post of the party.

Meanwhile, Samsudheen, the two time MLA from Mannarkkad, is also considered for the seat. However, he is more interested in Assembly seat.

Former minister Ali is also considered as he may not obtain seat to contest in Assembly election from Perinthalmanna.

The Rajya Sabha seat candidate of IUML is also not decided yet.
