Malappuram: Four students died after being struck by lightning at Mankada in Malappuram. Three others were injured and are currently undergoing treatment. The tragedy occurred at around 5:30 pm on Tuesday. The students were struck by lightning while visiting the Panthalloor Hills View Point in Mankada. Local residents rushed the collapsed students to Manjeri Medical College Hospital.
The victims were reportedly natives of Vellila.
The lightning struck the seven-member group that had gone to visit the viewpoint amid sudden heavy rain.

Following the lightning strike, one member of the group had initially gone missing.
He was later found during the subsequent search operation.
The accident occurred in the interior area of the hill, which delayed the rescue operations.
The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to the family members after postmortem.
