The women had travelled from Thailand via Kuala Lumpur before arriving in Kozhikode

Kondotty: Three women were apprehended by Air Customs at Karipur Airport on Tuesday night for attempting to smuggle drugs worth approximately ₹40 crore.
The seizure took place after an AirAsia flight from Thailand landed at 11:45 PM. The accused- Rabiyat Saidu Sainuddin (40) from Chennai, Kavitha Rajeshkumar (40) from Coimbatore, and Simi Balakrishnan (39) from Thrissur, were intercepted by officials from the Air Customs and Air Intelligence Unit.
Authorities recovered 34 kilograms of hybrid ganja and an additional 15 kilograms of chemical drugs concealed in Thailand-made chocolates, cakes, and cream biscuits.
The inspection was conducted based on specific intelligence received by the Customs Air Intelligence Unit. The women had travelled from Thailand via Kuala Lumpur before arriving in Kozhikode.
The operation was carried out by the Kozhikode Customs Air Intelligence Unit, which functions under Kochi Customs Preventive.
