Kasaragod: Kerala Higher Education Minister Dr R Bindu took to Facebook on Thursday and informed that she has ordered the removal of Rema M from the principal post at Government College, Kasaragod. The order is in wake of the complaint that the principal locked up students who came to her chamber seeking intervention to resolve the drinking water issue at the campus, the minister noted. Prof AL Ananthapadmanabha, senior faculty under the geology department has been embodied with powers of the principal including those related to financial matters, her post added.

The students had been complaining about the poor quality of water on the campus for a few days. A section of students who came to her chamber to complain about the matter refused to leave until something proactive is done. She allegedly locked them up and went outside.

The equation between the principal and students worsened over the alleged episode. Students in the earlier hours of the day protested at her chamber.

The minister’s order comes at this juncture. Meanwhile, the principal maintained that there was no high-handedness and she only questioned videography in the chamber.
