Thiruvananthapuram: A group of foreign tourists bathed in the sea at Kovalam beach on Tuesday violating lockdown in the state. The incident happened on Tuesday morning at 7 am before the lifeguards reached the beach.
Due to the lockdown, tourists staying in hotels in the state were told by the authorities to remain in their respective hotels. It was in this context that a group of tourists violated the lockdown in Kovalam.
The primary reports suggest that there was a lapse from the part of the hotel owner. He allegedly told the foreigners that they could take a bath in the sea before the lifeguards reached the beach.
The police came to know about this only when the footage of them bathing in the sea were released. Police said that action will be taken after further investigation.
