Thiruvananthapuram District Collector declares a partial local holiday on 7th April for the Panimoola Devi Temple festival in select regions.

Thiruvananthapuram: The District Collector has announced a local holiday on April 7, Tuesday, in observance of the primary day of the biennial festival at the Panimoola Devi Temple. The holiday will come into effect during the afternoon session.
Areas covered under the holiday
According to the official order, the holiday applies to government offices and educational institutions within the following regions:
- Andoorkonam, Pothhencode, Vembayam, Manickal and Mangalapuram Panchayats.
- Regions that were formerly part of the Kazhakoottam and Sreekariyam Panchayats and subsequently merged into the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation.
Exemptions and election guidelines
It is important to note that this holiday will not apply to government offices involved in election-related duties.
In a separate directive related to the upcoming general elections, the state government has already prohibited the sale of alcohol from 7.00 pm on the day public campaigning ends until 7.00 pm on the polling day, April 9. A similar "dry day" restriction has been mandated for the counting day on May 4.
