Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government granted permission to open liquor outlets within the state's major IT parks on Friday. An official order has been issued as part of the state’s revised liquor policy.
According to the directive, one liquor shop each will be permitted on select IT campuses. These outlets must be set up in dedicated buildings within the IT park premises and access will be restricted strictly to employees. Official guests of companies will also be allowed to avail of the facility, as per the government’s order.
The license fee has been set at ₹10 lakh, and only the IT park developers will be eligible to apply for and operate the licenses. The move is aimed at catering to the needs of professionals within the IT ecosystem while keeping public access restricted.
