New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday postponed the hearing of an interim bail plea moved by M Sivasankar, former Principal Secretary of CM Pinarayi Vijayan, who is in jail for being part of the Life Mission scam. The apex court will hear his plea on August 2.

Meanwhile, Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General of India, who represented the Enforcement Directorate in the case, denied Sivasankar's plea seeking medical care at a private hospital. In response to the request, the court questioned why a former government employee like Sivasankar would say no to medical treatment at a government hospital.

Sivasankar moved the interim bail plea seeking immediate medical treatment. Tushar Mehta, on the other hand, requested more time to file a counter-affidavit after examining the petitioner's medical condition as well as treatment details.

The Enforcement Directorate stated that Sivasankar can be treated at Kottayam Medical College's Neuro Surgery Department. However, Sivasankar asserted that the treatment is only available at a private hospital.
