Kozhikode: Muslim Youth League state general secretary PK Firoz has condemned the suspension of the police officer who investigated the Kathua-Unnao fund case.

Firoz described the incident as yet another example of a sincere police officer being vilified under the draconian CPM regime. He also revealed that his statement has so far not been recorded in the case.

Kunnamanagalm Inspector Yusuf Nadutharamel was suspended by the city police commissioner Rajapal Meena on Thursday. The Kunnamangalam judicial first class magistrate court had earlier dismissed the police report in connection with the case. In the police report, the case against PK Firoz and CK Subair was described as being a fabricated one with political motives.

“If the Kunnamangalam Circle Inspector had recommended hanging me, he would have continued in his office. I have submitted all the records demanded by the officers. The cops have quizzed my office secretary as well. If the court has issued an order dismissing the police report submitted in the case, then I would like to see a copy of that particular order. The incident is a warning for all other cops who might end up ruling in favour of the opposition leaders while discharging their duties sincerely,” said PK Firoz.

“KT Jaleel is misleading the media. He successfully got the CI suspended as well. The person who had filed the case against me is among the minister’s staff now. However CPM can restart the investigation with a police officer of their liking at the helm,” the Muslim Youth League leader said.

“CPM has a nexus with the BJP. On the other hand, the Youth League wishes for a great relationship between Muslim League and Samastha,” concluded Firoz.

The case pertains to the allegation that crores of rupees were misappropriated from the funds collected by the Youth League’s national committee to aid the families of the victims of Kathua-Unnao cases. The complaint was lodged by then Youth League’s national committee member Yusuf Padanilam.

Magistrate VP Abdul Sattar had ordered to issue summons to the accused in the case a few days ago. The case will be again considered by the court on February 9, 2024.
