Thiruvananthapuram: Expelled Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil has taken an indirect swipe at senior Congress leaders. He said that K Babu should serve as a model for those who refuse to step aside no matter how many times the people defeat them.

Rahul remarked that, except for the party’s prominent face leaders, Babu’s decision to withdraw should encourage many others to consider stepping aside this time. He expressed his views through a Facebook post.

Rahul was expelled from the Congress following allegations of sexual harassment. On Thursday, Thrippunithura MLA and senior Congress leader K Babu announced that he would not be contesting in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Rahul, a former Youth Congress state president, made the remarks in a Facebook post congratulating K Babu on his decision.
