Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Satheesan reiterated that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has a role to play in the alleged scam involving the AI-based surveillance camera deal. He added that the Opposition is willing to give "one more chance" for the Chief Minister to come clean on the matter. He remarked that "allegations have reached the Chief Minister's room and his house."
Satheesan alleged that the foremost conspiracy in the deal was about coming up with a fake estimate of Rs 235 crore. "The decision to come up with an estimate double its actual outlay aimed to embezzle crores. The tender document mentions that the contracted company cannot issue sub-contracts to carry out critical works. However, SRIT had violated this. In October 2020, Keltron formed a consortium with SRIT, Al Hind and Presadio. However, Al Hind left the consortium. In March 2021, SRIT issued a subcontract to a Hyderabad-based company without the knowledge of Keltron. Keltron learned about SRIT's move only after 10 days. However, they failed to take action for violating the contract," he said.
Meanwhile, Satheesan asked the government and Chief Minister to end the silence on allegations levelled against them. He alleged that Pinarayi Vijayan's close relative has links in the deal.
He pointed out that they are willing to give "a last opportunity" for the Chief Minister to respond to queries raised by him and Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala.
