Water flow in the Punnapuzha River has risen significantly, raising concerns in the region.

Kalpetta: Heavy rainfall continued to batter the Vellarimala-Mundakkai region of Wayanad on Wednesday, the area that witnessed a major landslide in July 2024.
The water flow in the Punnapuzha River has risen significantly, raising concerns in the region. Visuals from near the Bailey Bridge, constructed across the river following last year’s landslide, show swollen waters. The steps have been initiated to evacuate the plantation workers on the other side of the bridge.
The authorities have imposed restrictions near the bridge as a precautionary measure.
