Kuttiady: The CPM decided to replace its Kuttiadi local committee (LC) with an ad-hoc committee in response to the rally they organised during the Assembly Elections 2021.

LC members KP Chandri and Mohandas have been sent to a lower committee for leading the ‘factional activities’ within the party. Action against more leaders is expected in the coming days.

The committee members had led a protest against giving the Kuttiady seat to the Kerala Congress (Mani), the newest ally of LDF. They wanted to field KP Kunhammed Kutti Master from the seat. As KC(M) withdrew following the protests, CPM bent to the will of the local committee.

The banner they used at the rally which said “party will correct the leaders, people will correct the party” was trending back then.

However, the party decided to send a message that people cannot “correct the party” as they wish, three months after Kunhammed Kutti wrested the seat from the Muslim League for a very thin margin.

Earlier, the MLA himself was degraded from the district secretariat to the district committee of Kozhikode CPM.
