Kozhikode: Muslim League lashed out at the state government’s decision to give minority scholarship on the basis of population. MLA P K Kunhalikutty alleged that the Kerala government cancelled the benefits given to the Muslim community considering their backwardness in the society.
Fixing a special scheme was the ideal criteria for minority communities. Instead of implementing Sachar Committee report, they just abolished the commission itself. This may lead to religious disharmony. The LDF is responsible for removing the scheme which exists in other states, he added.
The government claimed that they only followed the court order. However, they did not file an appeal and this cannot be accepted. We will raise strong protests and this will be discussed in the assembly also, Kunhalikutty said.
The state government had said that the scholarships will be given to all deserving communities based on 2011 census data and no community will be denied of the benefit.
