Kochi: Kudumbashree, the flagship women empowerment scheme of the Government of Kerala, is making significant strides towards success. In the fiscal year 2023-24, enterprises operating under Kudumbashree amassed a turnover of Rs 1,816 crores. Among this, Rs 100.64 crore was generated from monthly markets, marketing fairs, and Saras fairs held across various states. Ernakulam district emerged as the leader in revenue generation, contributing Rs 182 crore.

Comparatively, Kudumbashree's income for the previous fiscal year (2022-23) stood at Rs 1,347 crores, indicating a remarkable 34.81 percent increase. The scheme is now eyeing on achieving a revenue target of Rs 3,000 crore for the current fiscal year.

Presently, over one lakh enterprises operate under Kudumbashree, with 80 percent being individual ventures. These encompass a wide range of businesses including nutrition units, tailoring units, and hotels. Kudumbashree's products such as soap, pickles, sweets, etc., enjoy robust demand in the market.

In addition to its own online platform, Kudumbashree has strengthened its sales through popular e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and ONDC, raking in an income of Rs. 90 lakh during the fiscal year 2023-24 and benefitting 237 entrepreneurs. The scheme is poised to introduce 600 new products through ONDC in its upcoming phase. Moreover, Kudumbashree services will soon be accessible through the Pocket Mart mobile application.

Further expanding its reach, Kudumbashree's products are also retailed through the signature store at the Kozhikode airport and the premium basket outlet established as part of the Kochi Metro initiative.
