Kottayam: KSRTC long-distance buses will now only stop for meals and refreshments at hotels pre-approved by them. KSRTC is inviting restaurants to submit expressions of interest to provide quality food for passengers.

The decision comes after numerous complaints about poor food quality and inadequate facilities at various stopover points, especially for female passengers. To address these issues, KSRTC plans to partner with well-established restaurants along major routes.

Presently, buses stop at various hotels for food, but the new policy aims to ensure a more reliable and pleasant dining experience. KSRTC will sign contracts with selected restaurants, which will be chosen based on a review process. The contracts will be initially valid for one year.

Key Requirements:

  • Provision of high-quality vegetarian and non-vegetarian food at reasonable prices.
  • A minimum of two years of operational experience.
  • Clean kitchen, toilet, and restroom facilities.
  • Seating capacity for at least 50 people.
  • Parking space for two buses.
  • A committee will evaluate the submitted expressions of interest and compile a list of eligible restaurants following negotiations.
