Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC management is planning to offer mandatory VRS to employees. The scheme is applicable to employees above 50 years of age and those with more than 20 years service.
The management has also compiled a list of 7,200 employees eligible under the scheme. Employees willing to retire under the scheme will receive Rs 15 lakh and other attractive benefits.
Earlier, the state finance department had directed KSRTC to reduce staff numbers to ease the financial burden. Due to financial constraints, the management has been relying on the government to pay wages and pensions to employees.
With the scheme, KSRTC aims to manage revenue spent on monthly wages and reduce overall expenditure by Rs 40 crore per month.
