Alappuzha: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has successfully completed the trial run of ‘Chalo’ mobile application, developed to provide real-time information on bus services. The app enables passengers to track buses live and find out exactly when a bus is arriving at a particular stop or terminal.

For the first time, this advanced tracking system has been introduced in KSRTC buses, offering commuters a more convenient and informed travel experience.

According to KSRTC, future updates to the app may also include live seat availability information, making it even easier for passengers to plan their journey.

Currently, the Chalo app is available for download on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store and many users have already begun using it. While minor discrepancies in timing may occur, the app is providing accurate information about buses operating on various routes.

Additionally, KSRTC travel cards can now be linked with the Chalo app for easy recharge and cashless transactions.

In a move towards modernisation, KSRTC depots have replaced landline telephones with mobile phones, allowing passengers to access bus-related information either via the app or directly through mobile communication.

Officials have indicated that dedicated enquiry counters at depots may be phased out in the future. Instead, information will be provided through the station master’s office.
