Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has moved a request to the Regulatory Commission seeking permission to increase the electricity tariff in the state for the next five years. KSEB has demanded an increase of 92 paise from the beginning of the new financial year.
However, the commission will make a decision after hearing the views of various sections of consumers.
KSEB had earlier decided to demand an increase of Rs 2.30 in five years. However, this was reduced to Rs 1.45.
With the new tariff, KSEB has been expecting an additional revenue of Rs 4,145 crore in the next five years. Further, the board expects to receive Rs 2249 crore for the first year alone. The board has submitted a tariff recommendation that could earn half of the total revenue expected for five years in just one year.r hearing the views of various sections of consumers.
