Thiruvananthapuram: Additional chief secretary of the energy department K.R Jyothilal said that since KSEB introduced a salary revision without government approval, the additional salary and pension received by the employees should be recovered. He gave this instruction during the Board of Directors meeting convened to discuss the demand for increase of employees’ DA.
The additional chief secretary demanded that KSEB take the necessary action in this regard. The additional chief secretary is of the opinion that the salary revision implemented in 2021 is excessive. As per the CAG, this revision was carried out without the government’s approval, he added. The government’s position on Jyothilal’s demand for salary recovery remains unclear.
The KSEB finance director informed that the salary revision was implemented after completing the process as per the tripartite agreement. The government usually approves this after the revision is put in place. However, the government is yet to approve the last two salary revisions. The board pointed out that DA had been revised in institutions like KSFE.
Due to the poor financial situation of KSEB, the board of directors have decided that a DA modification is not plausible. The employees, however, are pushing for this increase.
