KSEB disrupts electricity supply to MVD office in Kalpetta

Kalpetta: A week after MVD’s AI-enabled camera slapped Rs 500 fine on driver of a vehicle contracted by KSEB for not wearing uniform, the electricity board cut the connection to the MVD office here over non-payment of bills.

The supply was later restored after the motor vehicle department made the payment from the emergency fund on Tuesday itself. Officials from the Motor Vehicle Department said that government institutions are usually granted some leniency in case of delayed payment.

Last week, KSEB was fined Rs 20,000 for carrying a pole (thotti) on the jeep. The pole is used by KSEB to remove obstructions on electricity lines. Later, this fine was revoked following communication between both offices. However, a fine of Rs 500 to the driver was retained.
