Kalpetta (Wayanad): KPCC secretary and Sultan Bathery municipal councillor M S Viswanathan resigned from Congress. He announced the news of resignation in a press meet held at Kalpetta Press Club.

LDF leaders also were present with Viswanathan during the press meet. With this, it has been confirmed that Viswanathan will be fielded as LDF candidate in Sultan Bathery in the upcoming assembly polls. Earlier, Viswanathan had held some unofficial talks with LDF leaders.

M S Viswanathan had forwarded a letter to the Congress state leaders requesting to field him as candidate in Sultan Bathery constituency where Kuruma community has high influence. However, Congress decided to field sitting MLA I C Balakrishnan in the seat.

Congress leadership is concerned over the frequent resignations from the party in Wayanad district. KPCC member K K Viswanathan had resigned the other day levelling allegations against party district leadership. K K Viswanathan is the brother of late K K Ramachandran who was former minister. This was after the DCC general secretary resigned.
