Kozhikode: In the heart of Kozhikode City, Bhaskarettan's shop was a go-to place for all to relax in the scorching heat. The shop served the iconic milk sharbat for the past 70 years. Unfortunately, the famous shop on the Kannur road downed its shutters on Sunday evening following a Kerala High Court order.

Once you get a taste of sharbat served here, you will return for sure, says locals about the shop that used to witness heavy rush throughout the day. The shop was started by two brothers, Bhaskaran, and Kumaran, almost seven decades ago. Later, their children, Anand, Muraleedharan, and Manoj Kumar, continued to run the shop. The shop served several hundreds of sarbath every day.

The building in which the shop operated belongs to an individual who also owns a multi-storied structure, situated right behind the shop. Around 10 years ago, the owners asked Muraleedharan and his brothers to vacate the place to construct an access road.

However, the brothers filed a case and waited 10 years for a favourable verdict. However, Kerala High Court ruled in favour of the owners and asked owners to vacate the building on Sunday. Despite losing their shop, Brothers said they are hopeful to re-launch the shop in another location.
