Kozhikode: A complaint has been lodged against Nadakkavu SI Vinod for allegedly assaulting a woman and her family. Kakkur police have registered a case against the police officer.

The incident pertaining to the complaint happened around 12:30 AM on Sunday. The woman and her family, who were travelling in a car, got engaged in a verbal duel with passengers in a vehicle that came in the opposite direction. It is said that SI Vinod Kumar who arrived at the spot allegedly beat up the woman and her family including her child. The SI’s accomplice allegedly grabbed the woman as well.

As per the statements of the woman, the party in the opposite vehicle had called in SI Vinod for help. She accused the driver of using foul language. The police officer arrived at the spot on a bike. 

The SI and his accomplice were allegedly in inebriated condition. Vinod is accused of dragging the family outside the car and physically assaulting them. The woman explains that the cop had become extremely violent, kicking her own stomach and even biting her. The victim also stated that the SI’s accomplice had sexually harassed and assaulted her. 

The woman's husband and her eleven-year-old child are also said to have sustained injuries in the incident. It is known that the Kakkur police had to finally arrive at the spot to pacify the situation.    

The woman is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kozhikode. The victim informed that she would reach out to the chief minister’s office and child rights commission seeking action.
