Kozhikode: In a serious allegation, the survivor in the Kozhikode Medical College sexual assault case stated that the culprit, Saseendran, on suspension from the post of an attender there, is still coming to the hospital on a daily basis.
The young woman, who had to endure all kinds of trauma following the horrific incident in which she was sexually assaulted by the culprit when she was in a semiconscious state in the Medical College ICU after undergoing a thyroid surgery on March 18, 2023, said while speaking to the Mathrubhumi English, "That man is still coming scot-free to the hospital daily as if he is still working here. I know that he is getting paid for working here."
"The case is still under consideration of the court. However, the culprit is leading a normal life. It's me who is ousted from everything in fact. I am thrown outside and he is still a part of the system," the survivor said.

The police had earlier reported to the Kozhikode District Court that the culprit was an attender at the MCH and hence could influence other staffers who were also witnesses in the case. Based on this report the court had dismissed his bail plea on March 31, 2023.
"His suspension has not been lifted. But still, he comes to the hospital and everyone is well aware of it as well. He comes every day, works, roams around with his colleagues, putting hands around their shoulders, enjoys tea with them. So what justice can be expected here? Who is getting justice," the woman asked with a coldness which she might have acquired through her bitter experiences from around.
"I had given a complaint in person to the Health Minister in this regard, besides the one I filed with the police. However, no action has been taken till date," she rued.
"The Health Minister has been saying that she is standing for the survivor. It would be very kind of her if she would make it clear as to what she is doing or has done for me," she added.
She said the one temporary staff who was sacked was in fact innocent in the threat case, pertaining to the sexual assault case. The survivor added that she had already clarified the same in her testimony. However, those who had threatened her to withdraw her complaint against the culprit were not dismissed, but transferred to other medical colleges, that too to nearby ones, she further said. "Protection was given to them," the survivor added.
The survivor had come out in the public recently to extend support to the senior nursing officer in the Kozhikode Medical College, P B Anitha, when she was not allowed to rejoin duty despite the High Court order.
"The government is still trying to protect the culprit. By taking any stance against those standing with me, the government is in fact trying to weaken me, forcing me to give up my fight against the system," she said.
Meanwhile, Kozhikode Medical College Superintendent Dr Sreejayan confirmed that accused Saseendran is still on suspension. The doctor, however, said he does not know about the presence of the culprit on the hospital premises.
