Kozhikode: The City Police Commissioner has withdrawn the controversial circular to collect money from police officers for the running of the Muthalakulam Sree Bhadrakali Temple under the Kozhikode city police limits. The circular stated the authorities would deduct Rs 20 monthly from the salary to support the temple. The officers who did not want to be part of it had to inform by July 24, the circular of July 19 stated.
However, after facing dissatisfaction and complaints from some members of the police force, the circular has been rescinded.
In the past, the Kozhikode City Police has been actively involved in the renovation and maintenance of the temple. The practice of collecting money from the officers for the temple's running has been a subject of controversy in previous years as well.
