Kozhikode: In a shocking incident, four men attacked police officials in Kakkur. The miscreants attacked the cops when officials questioned them for extorting money from people by stopping their vehicles. 

Police officials, including Kakkoor SI Abdul Salam, were injured in the incident. Later, police took four individuals into custody in relation to the incident.

The arrested are Kannankara natives KN Soubhin (26) and M Rijeesh (29), EK Ajesh (34), hailing from Westhill, and KM Athul (27) from Iruvalloor. 

The incident happened on Monday at Kakkur in Chelannur. The men were allegedly in an inebriated condition. Besides exhorting money, the accused also verbally abused the passengers. As the police arrived at the spot, they vented their anger on the government officials as well.

The windshield of the police jeep and the antenna of the wireless set also suffered damage in the incident. The police finally apprehended the youngsters with the help of locals.
