
Thiruvananthapuram: Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan announces Rs 5 Lakh financial aid for families of those killed in Koyilandy elephant rampage.
An elephant had run amok after being startled by fireworks during a festival at the Manakulangara Temple at Kuruvangad in Koyilandy, triggering a stampede that tragically claimed the lives of three individuals, on February 13.
The victims, identified as Leela (65), Ammukutty Amma (70) and Rajan, were killed in the ensuing chaos. In total, around 30 people were injured in the incident.
The panic started when the elephant, disturbed by the sound of the crackers, charged at a nearby elephant, causing the tragic sequence of events.
