Kottayam: A woman from Kottayam, who was cured of COVID-19 has tested positive for the disease again. The 27-year-old had returned from Sharjah on June 19.

The patient’s sample was tested at Sharjah on May 10, following which she tested positive and was taken to a hospital. Later she was tested negative on May 28.

She reached Kerala on June 19 and was under home quarantine. Her samples were tested once again on June 30 and the result came out positive.

Nine people have tested positive for the virus in Kottayam on Thursday. Out of this, four belong to one family. Mariyappalli native (48), his wife (36) and their children, who returned from Mumbai have been confirmed with the disease. The family reached Kerala on June 26 via flight. They had shown symptoms of the disease.

  • A Kooroppada native (60) who returned from Kolkata on June 22.
  • A Vazhur native (31) who returned from Oman on June 23.
  • A Manarkkadu native (63) who returned from Saudi Arabia on June 20.
  • A Chirakkadavu native who was listed as the primary contact of a Pallikkathodu native (36) undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ponkunnam. She displayed symptoms of the disease.
