Kottayam bar staffers, customers fight for two hours over UPI payment; four injured

Manarcadu (Kottayam): Four people were injured in a brawl that broke out at a bar here on Thursday over the mode of payment of a bill.

The fight started when a group demanded UPI details to pay the bill. The bar staff demanded cash. The matter escalated and the verbal spat soon turned into a fist fight. The customers brought in more people from outside.

The fight, which started at around 8 in the night continued for around two hours. The groups entered the National Highway blocking traffic.

Manarcadu SI Shameer Khan arrived at the spot and transferred the injured to hospital. They took one person into custody.

By around 11.30 pm, the staff beat up a few customers who were reportedly part of the gang. When the police came, they fled from the location.
