Kottayam: Five members of a Kudumbashree group have won the third prize of ₹50 lakh in the Kerala Onam Bumper lottery. The winning ticket, TH 668650, was drawn by Payyanithottam Surya Kudumbashree members Keeryanikal Soumya Sujeev, Kottukkunnel Ramya Anoop, Kottukkunnel Usha Mohanan, Olikkal Sally Sabu, and Kumbalanthanathil Usha Sabu.

The ticket was purchased from Manoj, a resident of Poonjar, and after knowing the result, it was surrendered at the Kerala Gramin Bank’s Poonjar branch. Each member had contributed ₹100 to buy the ticket.

Among the winners, Soumya, Ramya, Usha, and Sally are beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) housing scheme. Construction of Soumya and Ramya’s houses is already underway, while Usha and Sally have not yet been allocated suitable plots.

Usha Sabu faced challenges in building a house due to difficult access to her land. Now, all these women can fulfil their long-held dream of a secure home.
