Konni: Konni Principal SI Saju Abraham was transferred to Pathanamthitta due to conflicts with the local CPM secretary during the inspection of quarry vehicles.

CPM Aruvappulam local secretary Deedu Balan arrived at Thekkuthode junction on Wednesday afternoon, where the SI was conducting an inspection of quarry vehicles. Deedu alleged police misconduct and partiality in the incident, citing the manner in which fines were imposed upon various vehicle owners. The heated exchange between the local leader and the SI was captured on video and quickly spread across social media platforms. Eventually, senior police officials intervened to defuse the situation and restore order.

It was not the first time that the duo were locking horns. Earlier they had a similar argument at Vakayar. Deedu accused the cop of favoritism. He alleged that SI used to charge hefty fines ranging between Rs 34,000 - Rs 74,000 from certain vehicle owners for overload. On the other hand, Deedu accused the cop of being partial, citing that he was just collecting Rs 250 from a few other vehicle owners for similar charges.

However, a transfer order was issued to Sanju Abraham within days, after the Vayakar incident. The showdown on Wednesday was just a continuation of the high drama. Meanwhile, the district police superintendent responded that the SI’s transfer was just part of the usual procedure.
