Soldier hits policeman for refusing to release accused in Kollam

Kollam: An assistant sub-inspector of police was allegedly attacked inside a police station here by a soldier and his brother on Thursday.

Vishnu (30) and his brother Vignesh (25) arrived at Kilikolloor police station demanding release of four people arrested for drug peddling. The accused were arrested from a lodge in Karicode. Police were proceeding to produce them before court.

According to police, Vishnu and Vignesh demanded to meet the accused. They also asked ASI Prakash Chandran to release them on bail. When he told them that the accused were being taken to court, Vishnu hit Prakash with his thick bracelet. The ASI was rushed to the cooperative hospital in Mevaram.
