Kodanchery: The locals of Kodanchery Grama Panchayat in Kozhikode hired shooters from Telangana to eradicate wild boars that destroy plantation crops and vegetable patches in the area. The shooters will camp in the village for three days to kill wild boars as per a plan formulated with the help of ward members.
The shooters belonging to a Telangana-based NGO assists people in killing wild boars that destroy farms and livelihoods. The boars will be killed using the rights given to the Panchayat president under the honorary wildlife warden.
Further, the hunters, who have experience in killing wild boars in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, also have the licence to kill them. The Panchayat authorities also received the green light from forest officials to go ahead with the plan.
