The sixth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, India’s largest contemporary art event, will open on 12 December

Kochi: The Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) has unveiled the list of 66 artists and collectives set to participate in the sixth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB), scheduled to open on 12 December in Kochi.
According to KBF, this edition will feature participants from more than 25 countries, curated by artist Nikhil Chopra and HH Art Spaces from Goa. The curatorial team said it had invited artists to engage with Kochi’s unique environments and cultural realities, encouraging collaboration and adaptability.
“We draw from past editions and continue to see the exhibition as a growing organism constantly nourished by ideas, emotions, and actions,” the curatorial statement noted.
KBF added that detailed venue maps, event programmes, and public initiatives will be announced closer to the opening date.
KBF chairperson V Venu said that the selected artists represent diverse and courageous voices from around the world. “We envisage the sixth edition not just as a moment of celebration, but as part of a long-term vision for sustaining artistic practices, community, and cultural dialogue in Kochi,” he said, emphasising collaboration with local communities and institutions.
Biennale president Bose Krishnamachari described the upcoming edition as a “dynamic constellation” of established and emerging voices, marking the first time a collective has been invited to create a collaborative site within the Biennale.
