Kochi: The mortal remains of N Ramachandran, a native of Edappally who was killed in the terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, were brought to Kochi. The body was received at the Nedumbassery airport by a team led by Minister P Prasad. Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan, Union Ministers Suresh Gopi and George Kurian, along with other public representatives and BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, were also present at the airport.

Ramachandran, who had travelled to Kashmir as part of a leisure trip, was shot dead by terrorists in front of his daughter. According to neighbours, the family had left Kochi for Kashmir on Monday.

The group consisted of Ramachandran’s wife Sheela, a teacher at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, their daughter and two grandchildren. Ramachandran, who was previously working abroad, had returned to India about a year ago.

From Kochi Airport, the body will be taken to Renai Medicity. On Friday morning, it will be taken to Changampuzha Park in Edappally for public viewing and then to his residence. The funeral will be held around noon on Friday.
