Kochi: The long-pending demand for a railway station at Nedumbassery Airport is finally taking shape, with the Railway Board granting approval for the project, Union Minister of State George Kurian announced on Wednesday.
Taking to Facebook, Kurian said that Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had assured him earlier this month that the procedures for the airport railway station would be expedited.
The minister recalled that during last year’s window-trailing inspection, Vaishnaw himself had shown officials the proposed site for the new station. Kurian had also accompanied the Railway Minister during that visit.
Calling it a major step forward in improving connectivity for air passengers, George Kurian expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their efforts to make the project a reality.
