Alathur: It has been reported that the key eyewitness in the sensational Nenmara twin-murder case is hesitant to testify against Chenthamara, the accused, due to fear of reprisal. The police stated that the witness is extremely afraid of potential harm from Chenthamara, which is why he is reluctant to give a statement.

While tending to a goat near the crime scene, the eyewitness heard an unusual sound and rushed to the spot. According to the police, he witnessed Chenthamara attacking Lakshmi with a weapon.

Later, through a relative of the witness, the police learned that he had seen Chenthamara killing Lakshmi. The police managed to locate him, who had gone to Nelliyampathy. However, he refused to testify even after being located. The police have not revealed his name or other details.

The police are facing difficulties as the witness is unwilling to provide a confidential statement or testify in court. Meanwhile, the statements of other witnesses have already been recorded. The process of recording confidential statements from eight witnesses has begun, and two of them have already been completed. The remaining two will be recorded in the coming days. Out of the hundred witnesses, the police plan to record the statements of only eight as confidential.

The police have confirmed that the eyewitness was only about 50 meters away when Sudhakaran and his mother were attacked by Chenthamara. After witnessing the incident, the frightened eyewitness fled the scene and later informed his parents. He was bedridden for a few days due to a fever and then went to work with a relative. The police are continuing efforts to include the young man in the list of witnesses.
