Thiruvananthapuram: In a major relief to all, PG doctors of Government Medical Colleges have called off the week-long strike on Tuesday. The decision to withdraw from the strike was taken after holding a meeting with health minister Veena George.
According to the Kerala Medical Post Graduate Association, the minister has assured that action will be taken to appoint junior resident doctors within two days. Earlier, the group had warned that they would initiate a boycott and protest from Wednesday which could have disrupted emergency services.
However, the medical teachers led by the Medical College Teachers Association and government doctors led by the Kerala Government Medical Officers Association will resume their indefinite strike in front of the Secretariat from Wednesday onward. Doctors from District Medical Officers(DMO) and Directorate of Health Services (DHS) and primary health centres in various districts will join the protest.
