Edappal: Malappuram native Fasil KV was born without the right foot. He also had an abnormal bend on his left leg. To walk, he had to undergo three surgeries. Though the doctors were not optimistic about the surgery, Fasil now plays football, beating all odds in his life.

He managed to walk when he was four years old. That was the beginning of his journey to his dream to be a professional footballer.

He kick-started his career by playing for the LEO FC and held training sessions with his friends in Smarts Sports Club here.

“I used to sneak out from my house and play football with my friends. My parents were worried that I'd get injured. Unfortunately, one day it happened. I got injured and I lied to mom that I slipped and fell in the bathroom,” Fasil said.

“My friends and family never identify me as a disabled person. I always dreamed about joining a professional football club and becoming a top player. Now all my dreams have come true,” Fasil said.

“It was very difficult initially as I couldn't wear boots. When I run, the boot used to fall off,” he added.

Fasil plays so naturally that one may not see through that he is physically impaired. Only when he removes the boot, one would realize that he has no foot.

''He has got speed, he is brave and he has got a very powerful left leg," says Azeez, football coach and FC Kerala’s head of youth development. ''In his debut, he scored twice. He plays with all the passion and we are proud of him'', the coach added.
