Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Youth Commission has announced the Youth Icon Awards for 2025–26, recognising outstanding young achievers across multiple sectors.

Mathrubhumi Digital Senior Sub-Editor Nileena Atholi has received the award in the media category for bringing human rights issues, social concerns in Kerala and underreported aspects of women’s lives into mainstream public discourse through research-driven, impactful journalism. She is a recipient of several national and state honours, including the Press Council of India Award.

Actress Kalyani Priyadarshan has been selected for the art and culture award, while writer Amal Pirappancode has been named Youth Icon in literature.

Asian Games silver medallist P Mohammed Afsal has won the award in the sports category.

Kollam native R Vishnuraj, recognised for his success in experimental and innovative farming, has been honoured in the agriculture category. Entrepreneur Vimal Govind has received the award in the business and entrepreneurship sector.

The Youth Icon Awards aim to celebrate young role models contributing significantly to society across diverse fields in Kerala.
