Rain cools Ernakulam and Idukki, but Kerala isn’t off the hook yet. IMD warns of thunderstorms and rising heat up to 40°C across the state.

Light to moderate rain showers brought much-needed relief to residents of idukki and Ernakulam on Sunday evening, easing the intense summer heat. The rainfall, accompanied by cool and windy conditions, provided a temporary break from rising temperatures across the state.
However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has cautioned that this relief may be short-lived, as both rain and heat alerts remain in place for multiple districts in Kerala.
Thunderstorm alert: Gusty winds & rainfall expected
According to IMD, thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds reaching up to 40 kmph are likely over isolated areas in: Idukki, Ernakulam and Wayanad.
This alert is valid for the next few hours, with residents advised to stay cautious of sudden weather changes.
