Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather update for Kerala, forecasting isolated light rain over the next few hours in several districts. Light showers are expected until January 27, while dry conditions are likely from January 28 to 30.

Kerala districts under green alert

Today, all districts in Kerala were under a green alert due to the possibility of light rain. For January 27, the IMD has issued a green alert specifically for:

  • Palakkad
  • Malappuram
  • Kozhikode
  • Wayanad
  • Kannur
  • Kasaragod

This alert advises residents to stay prepared for intermittent showers, though no severe weather is expected.

The IMD has also warned that isolated light rain may occur within the next few hours in the following districts:

  • Thiruvananthapuram
  • Kollam
  • Pathanamthitta
  • Idukki
  • Palakkad
  • Malappuram
  • Wayanad

From January 28 to 30, no rainfall warnings have been issued for any districts in Kerala.

Alerts have also been issued for fishermen for the next few days due to strong winds and rough seas:

  • January 26–27: Northeastern Arabian Sea and Northern Gujarat Coast may experience winds 40–50 km/h, occasionally reaching 60 km/h.
  • January 27–28: Gulf of Mannar, Kanyakumari, Southern Tamil Nadu Coast, and Sri Lankan coasts may see strong winds 40–50 km/h, reaching 60 km/h at times with rough seas.
  • January 29–30: Kanyakumari region could face winds 40–50 km/h, occasionally 60 km/h, along with rough sea conditions.

Fishermen are advised to exercise caution and avoid venturing into rough seas during this period.
