The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for seven Kerala districts on Wednesday (July 29), warning of the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall. The weather department has also released a five-day rainfall forecast, with alerts extending to several districts until August 1.

For Wednesday, the yellow alert is in place for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. 

Yellow alerts to continue until August 1

According to the IMD's forecast, the following districts are under a yellow alert over the next few days:

July 30 (Thursday): Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.

July 31 (Friday): Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.

August 1 (Saturday): Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kannur and Kasaragod.

A yellow alert indicates the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall. The IMD defines heavy rainfall as 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain within 24 hours. Residents in the affected districts are advised to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins and exercise caution in areas vulnerable to heavy rain.
