Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across Kerala until August 1. A yellow alert has been issued for Malappuram, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Monday.

On Tuesday, the yellow alert will remain in effect for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. On July 29, alerts have been issued for Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod.

Heavy rainfall is also expected on July 30 in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.

Meanwhile, the low-pressure area that formed over the north Bay of Bengal, off the coasts of north Odisha and West Bengal, has intensified. According to the IMD, the system is likely to move north-westwards and strengthen further into a deep depression, raising the likelihood of widespread rainfall across the state over the coming days.
