The Kerala Cabinet has approved the lease of five acres at Technocity for setting up a Central Forensic Science Laboratory under a national scheme.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has decided to lease five acres of land at Technocity in Thiruvananthapuram for the establishment of a Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) under the National Forensic Infrastructure Enhancement Scheme.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, according to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
The land, located at Melthonnakkal village within Technocity, Phase IV of Technopark, will be leased to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for a period of 90 years at a nominal annual rate of ₹100 per acre.
The Cabinet has authorised the Chief Executive Officer of Technopark to execute the long-term lease agreement.
The proposed Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Kerala is expected to significantly strengthen the state’s forensic and criminal investigation infrastructure, providing advanced scientific support to law enforcement agencies in line with the objectives of the national scheme.
