Thiruvananthapuram: The General Education Department has provided assurances that the declaration of SSLC results and the distribution of textbooks will remain on schedule.

During Tuesday’s Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) meeting, Director of General Education N S K Umesh announced that the SSLC exam results will be declared this Friday as previously planned. The Examination Board is set to meet on Wednesday. Higher Secondary results will also be published on time. Furthermore, he stated that printing is being finalised and textbook distribution will be completed before schools reopen on June 1.

The Chief Secretary has convened a meeting with District Collectors on Wednesday to discuss issues related to the fitness certificates of school buildings. During the meeting, teacher union leaders raised concerns regarding the uncertainty surrounding summer vacation training. Consequently, it was agreed that state and district-level training would be conducted online, while local-level training would proceed as usual.

The Director also guaranteed that K-TET results would be published shortly and that teacher transfer procedures would be expedited. The meeting was attended by teacher union leaders including T K A Shafi (KSTA), P K Aravindan (KPSTA), O K Jayakrishnan (AKSTU), K M Abdulla (KSTU), Hareesh Kadavathur (KSTC), M Thameemuddin (KAMA), M K Biju (KSTF) and K Smitha (NTU).

Textbooks to arrive before schools reopen: KBPS

The Managing Director of KBPS, the government’s official printing agency, confirmed that textbooks will reach all locations before the new academic year begins. This statement was issued in response to a report by Mathrubhumi highlighting a potential crisis in distribution.

He clarified that the claim that only 7.9 million books had been printed is incorrect. Out of 35.7 million books, 27.5 million have already been printed. He further explained that the temporary disruption in the supply of cover paper has now been resolved.
