Kannur: Kerala stands at the forefront in the number of railway stations awarded the ‘Eat Right’ certification, which ensures safe food practices. A total of 26 railway stations in Kerala have received this certification from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).  Across the country, only 198 stations currently hold this certification.

This month, the Cherthala, Punalur and Kayamkulam stations were newly certified. In December 2023, there were 114 certified stations nationwide, which increased to 154 by June 2024. Several previously certified stations, however, have not yet renewed their registrations.

The certification process assesses various factors such as drinking water quality, cleanliness, waste management and the oils used in food preparation.
